Using the NHS app

The NHS app helps you to get well, stay well and manage your health care. It's free and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
You can now see parts of your hospital record – such as appointments, test results and care plans – using the NHS App on your smartphone or tablet.
This is a secure and easy way to:
Everything is stored safely and only you can see it, unless you choose to share it.
You can download the NHS App onto your phone or tablet from the App store on Apple devices, or the Google Play Store on Android devices. The NHS website has a full guide on how to set up the app. If you need help registering, a friend, carer or family member can help.
When you use the NHS App, some of your hospital information is shown using trusted NHS partners who help power the service behind the scenes. At our hospitals, we use DrDoctor.
You don’t need to download anything extra – it all works through the NHS app following a one-off registration process. These companies work with the NHS, under strict rules, to keep your information safe and secure. They are simply tools the hospital uses to give you better access to your care.
Messages will come from the number +44 7860 039092 and include a secure DrDoctor web link where you can view details of your appointment.
When you open the link, you will be asked to confirm a few details. This is to make sure we are showing the right information to the right person, and it is completely safe.
Please don’t ignore these messages – they are genuine reminders from our team, working in partnership with DrDoctor.
You can check your appointment details at the tap of a button.
We’re making sure you don’t miss anything:
What devices can I use to sign up/log in?
You can access the NHS app on any smartphone, tablet, or desktop device. Download the NHS App in the App Store or Google Play Store, or visit the NHS app website.
Do I need an email address to register?
No — all you need to sign up is your last name, date of birth, and postcode.
Is the system secure?
DrDoctor is compliant with the NHS network, so it’s just as secure as the information your healthcare providers already hold on you. However, it's unique because it also gives you, the patient, access to your information via any web-enabled device. Patient information is encrypted (or coded) and only people who have permission to view your information can do so.
We encrypt data in both transit (i.e. when the information comes in and out) and storage.
Can I see my child’s record?
Yes. Parents or carers can be given access once they have their own NHS account.
Why can't I see my appointment information?
Any future appointments for acute services at BHRUT information should show immediately in the NHS app, DrDoctor and PKB when an appointment has been booked.
I've had a appointment text message but can't see all my appointment details
The initial text message is intentionally brief and includes a secure link. When you click the link and log in using your information, you can view the full appointment details, including clinic location, date, and time.
I don’t want to receive text messages
You can opt out of digital communications. You can do this by following the instructions in the text message or by contacting your service directly. We will continue to send appointment letters to ensure you receive important information.
The link didn’t work/I couldn’t access my details
Make sure you are using the latest message and your details are entered correctly when accessing the portal. If you continue to have issues, contact the service driectly.
