Use of force

The Mental Health Unit (Use of Force) Act 2018 guides the oversight and management of the appropriate use of force in relation to adults, young people, and children in mental health units. We are registered to provide assessment and medical treatment for people detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 as well as inpatients with mental health disorders. There are circumstances when it may be necessary to use force to ensure the safe care and treatment of the patient and the safety of other patients and staff.
