Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals Strategy 2021-2025

The nursing, midwifery and AHP strategy sets out the standards of care that we want to provide at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust over the next five years. As a Trust we are aiming to provide the outstanding care that we would want for our own family and friends. This strategy is closely aligned to the Trust’s strategic plan, PRIDE values, aims and objectives. It has also been developed to reflect the national and local policy drivers, notably:

  • A Framework for Nursing, Midwifery and Care Staff (2016)
  • NHS Long Term Plan (2019)
  • Interim NHS People Plan (2019)

Our strategy also upholds the Nursing, Midwifery Council Code (2015)4 principles:

  • Prioritise people
  • Practice effectively
  • Preserve safety
  • Promote professionalism and trust

One code, four themes. Together, they signify good nursing and midwifery practice with the ultimate aim of patient protection.

We have been on a journey and made significant improvements in so much of our practice. This strategy builds on and sets a trajectory for achieving our nursing, midwifery and AHP ambitions over the next five years.
