We’ve launched a new Mourning Coffee event in Dagenham, to support people who have been bereaved.

Held on the third Thursday of every month, it’s a chance for people in a similar situation to meet and chat over coffee, sharing stories, experiences and advice.

Heather Wright, our Palliative Care Team Leader, said: “Losing someone close to you is a huge life event and sometimes it can be helpful to be able to talk to someone who has experienced the same as you.

“Anyone is welcome to come along to our Mourning Coffee events, they’re an opportunity to meet with others in a similar situation to you and have a chat, about the person you’ve lost, or anything you’d like to talk about. If you know someone who could benefit, please do let them know about it.”

The event is held from 10am to 12noon at the Bennetts Castle Care Centre, 244 Bennetts Castle Lane. The next one will be on Thursday 16 March.

An existing group also meets at the YMCA, Rush Green Road, Romford, on the first Wednesday of every month, from 10am to 12noon.

It has seen members of the group make real friendships and socialise outside of the Mourning Coffee events.
