Resident doctor strike

From Wednesday 17 to Monday 22 December, resident doctors (formerly known as junior doctors) will be taking strike action. During this time, our services will be under increased pressure.

Getting the right care

Please help us make sure emergency care is available for those who need it most:

  • Only attend A&E in life-threatening emergencies.
  • For non-urgent issues, please contact your GP, your local pharmacy, or NHS 111 (online or by phone).

Appointments and planned care

  • If your appointment is affected, we will contact you directly.
  • If you do not hear from us, please attend your appointment as planned.

Make a difference and join us a patient partner

Alina and Medhavi are two of our patient partners

Would you like to join our Trust and make sure our patients are heard? Now is your chance!

We are recruiting voluntary patient partners to help identify what matters most to our patients, so we can improve our services and provide a better experience.

Patient partners play a vital role within our Trust and the time they dedicate to our communities makes a difference.

They are the voice for many of our patients, listening to their experiences and sharing them with us so we can make positive changes.

Two of our volunteers are Alina Khan and Medhavi Mathur, who shared their experiences of working with us as patient partners alongside their studies at school.

Alina, who works within the Children’s Emergency Department (ED), started working with us part-time when she began year 12 at school. She described the role as a “positive and flexible experience” and particularly enjoyed giving patients the opportunity to feel seen and heard.

Medhavi, a patient partner in our Adult’s ED, said: “I like being able to have open conversations with patients, sometimes they just need someone to talk to.”

Both Alina and Medhavi work in our hospitals one day a week and enjoy the role as its flexible around their studies. They both reflected on the times they had been patients in hospital and agreed that being a patient partner allowed them to help others and give back to their local hospital.

If you are interested in becoming a patient partner, email our Patient Experience team for more information.
