It's silver for Sky B!

Sky B ward at Queen’s Hospital has become the latest to attain silver accreditation as part of our ongoing efforts to improve and standardise the quality of care given across our hospitals.

Our ward accreditation programme sees units assessed on patient experience and safety, staff experience, efficiency, and equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Wards are assessed by corporate nurses and subject matter experts, and are then given a report that highlights areas where they are excelling and also includes improvements needed to progress to the next level.

We now have 14 wards with silver accreditation and a further 24 have bronze.

The award came as a surprise to the team on Sky B, as they didn’t know why they were being visited.

Sharon Thorn, senior sister, said: “I was told it was for a mock CQC inspection, so I was tricked!

“Getting silver is an absolutely amazing experience, it wouldn’t have happened without the hard work of the whole team.”
