It's National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day!

Thank you to all our Estates and Facilities colleagues, including those from Sodexo and Mitie.

We have around 1,450 Estates and Facilities colleagues working in our Trust, keeping our patients safe and our hospitals running.

Hear what just a few of them had to say ⬇️

While working in the laundry service I once found someone's wedding ring! It was great to be able to return it to the person it belonged to. The most rewarding part of my role is being part of a large team who are there to support you on a difficult day. Having support around you is very important when the pressure is on. I joined the Estates and Facilities team in 2021 as a PA with Trust Temps for maternity leave cover. I had no intention of staying here, but I soon caught the bug. I've gone from PA, to Soft FM Monitoring Officer, to Environmental Compliance Manager. It’s always great providing solutions, advice, and being part of a team who support you.

Mitie

I'e only worked here for a few weeks but enjoy how varied the role is and that I get to meet new people all the time. I love helping people and making them happy, I take my time talking to them and make sure they understand where they need to go. I enjoy being able to look after people and going home each day happy, knowing I've done something good for our community. This job is very rewarding and fulfilling. Each day I'm helping patients from our local community and making sure they get to their appointments.

Sodexo

I joined in 1991 at Oldchurch as a Catering Porter. I came over to Queen's a couple of months before it opened and helped with the set up of the catering and host side. I love my job. I love talking to patients and giving them their meals. Seeing them happy makes me happy as well. I love talking to patients and hearing their stories. I like getting to know them and being able to spend some time with them. I start at 8am and get the kitchen ready to restock. I pack the trolleys to move meals to the wards, the pantry, or into the oven. I enjoy working all around.
