Resident doctor strike

From Wednesday 17 to Monday 22 December, resident doctors (formerly known as junior doctors) will be taking strike action. During this time, our services will be under increased pressure.

Getting the right care

Please help us make sure emergency care is available for those who need it most:

  • Only attend A&E in life-threatening emergencies.
  • For non-urgent issues, please contact your GP, your local pharmacy, or NHS 111 (online or by phone).

Appointments and planned care

  • If your appointment is affected, we will contact you directly.
  • If you do not hear from us, please attend your appointment as planned.

QUEST - Our thyroid cancer support group

Thyroid Cancer Graphic

September is Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month and, in light of this, we would like to raise awareness around a support group at our Trust called QUEST. Thyroid cancer is a rare cancer only affecting 3,700 patients in the whole of the UK and the group supports people through every stage of their pathway. It allows patients at our hospitals to share their experience of living with thyroid cancer and to discuss the emotional and physical symptoms of being on long term suppression thyroxine. Patients undergoing treatment may need to have radioactive iodine, which means isolation from their family.

QUEST has been running for 12 years and is one of the only support groups for thyroid cancer. Anyone who is interested in attending can contact Karen Guner, Clinical Nurse Specialist, on 01708 503 477 or email karenguner@nhs.net.
