Patient engagement for new early diagnostic centre in Mile End

Latest news icon

A brand new early diagnostic centre is due to open in north east London in 2020. It is the first of its kind nationally and will be based at Mile End Hospital. It will eventually include many cancer diagnostic services, including MRI, and make it easier and faster to get a diagnostic test, which will improve cancer detection and survival rates; as well as standardising processes and care across all of north east London.

The centre will begin by offering tests to patients living with specific conditions and for GP referrals for certain suspected cancers before expanding services. The tests at the centre will come with shorter waiting times, more choice of appointments including weekends, fewer cancellations and support from dedicated staff funded by Macmillan. Patients will be able to decide if they want their tests to be carried out at the new centre or in hospital, whichever is best for them.

The new centre wants to hear patients’ views on using the new centre so it can be made as good as possible and they are encouraging people to fill out this short survey.
