May is Stroke Awareness Month and we’re delighted to share that our Stroke team, which was highly commended for its turnaround from D to A rating in the 2020 HSJ Patient Safety Awards, has maintained the top-rating, despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Our teams have worked hard to find new ways to reduce waiting times caused by the covid-19 pandemic. Held on Saturday 15 May, a special surgical outpatient clinic saw 162 outpatients for a consultation at Queen’s Hospital.

One of our nurses, Tabitha Kihayile, was selected to attend a special reception, held at Number 10 Downing Street last night (Thursday 20 May), to thank NHS staff for their hard work during the pandemic.

It’s Dementia Action Week (Monday 17 to Sunday 23 May) and Debbie Smith, our longest-serving dementia and delirium assistant (DDA), has shared why she is so passionate about what she does.
