We’re holding our annual general meeting (AGM) on Wednesday (25 September), and you’re invited to come along and find out more about what’s been going on over the last year.

Maurice Smith, who chairs our Organ Donation Committee, has encouraged those who want to donate their organs to ensure their family is aware of their wishes.

This week we’re marking the national Organ Donation Week, so we spoke to Maurice Smith, a consultant geriatrician at our Trust, who also chairs our Organ Donation Committee. We even quizzed him about his famous white coat!

Charlie Richardson, a 71-year-old volunteer at our hospitals, is taking on another daring challenge this Saturday (7 September).

We know there are lots of very interesting people in our Trust, whether through your work, your interests or your hobbies outside work. We want to get to know you and share your story.

This week we spoke to Elizabeth Obisesan, senior sister and manager of our Ambulatory Care Unit.

Lives: In Chafford Hundred with her husband and three children, Mary, Emmanuel and Abigail.

And: Before joining the NHS, Elizabeth had a glamorous career as a TV presenter at home in Nigeria – including being picked up by a driver to take her to work each day!

This week we spoke to Paul Thorp, an occupational therapist by background who’s now one of our Red2Green Transformation Leads.

Age: 33

Lives: In Saffron Walden with wife Helen, 32, and kids Isabella, two, and 10-month-old Leo

And:  It was when Paul’s college tutor suggested he get an office job which didn’t need a degree that spurred him onto a career in healthcare.

We’re encouraging our residents to have their say as we put together a detailed plan of what our services will look like in the future.

After welcoming our new intake of junior doctors last week (all 236 of them!), we thought we’d speak to someone who’s been there and got the T-shirt, Dan Sommer, a geriatric medicine registrar, who’s keen to be a friendly face and support our new arrivals.

Our nurse Josie Larkin finally got her wish to deliver a baby when she came to the rescue of a couple in the car park at Queen’s Hospital, at 4.45am on Sunday (August 11) morning!
