This week we spoke to Jodie Hampel, senior clinical scientist in radiation protection and imaging physics. Jodie is one of four colleagues at our Trust who have secured places on a prestigious leadership programme aimed at female healthcare scientists. 

Today marked the last day of our interim Chief Executive, Chris Bown, at our Trust.

To kick off the New Year, we spoke to our children’s oncology clinical nurse specialist (CNS), Laura May. She told us about the job she loves, from the good parts; fun with her young patients and getting to know their families; to how she deals with the emotional side when children die.

CQC inspectors have noted how improvements are continuing at Queen’s and King George hospitals, with three of the five domains rated ‘good’.

Laura May, children’s oncology clinical nurse specialist , recently won our You Made a Difference Award. Laura was nominated by Daniel Devitt, the interim Children’s Commissioner for Redbridge CCG. Daniel nominated Laura for making a string of beads of courage for a patient who had sadly lost their original set.

Christine Grove’s son Paul was just 21 when he died in a motorbike accident in early November 2001. A passionate advocate for organ donation, the mother-of-three didn’t hesitate to donate her son’s organs and tissue.

First time parents Karishma and Harwinder Singh welcomed son Anshvir (pictured) at just 43 minutes after midnight on New Year’s Day.

Our staff at Queen’s Hospital got a special visitor today (Monday 23 December) – 11-month-old Daniel Andrews was brought back to see those who helped care for him for several weeks after his premature birth.
