There is a very proud dad at our Trust this week! Daniel Madden’s son Keelan, five, won a national competition in the Daily Mirror which saw his rainbow poster in support of the NHS published in yesterday’s newspaper.

A letter of thanks has been sent to the households of all our staff from Chair Joe Fielder and Chief Executive, Tony Chambers.

Konda Mbwaki, 60, was discharged from Queen’s Hospital yesterday (Wednesday 15 April) after spending almost three weeks in hospitals and half that time in intensive care, battling Covid-19.

Tony Chambers, our Chief Executive, said: “I’m sorry to tell you that a member of our staff, Amrik Bamotra, has died. Amrik, who was known at work as Bob, was 63 and had been ill for some time.

Families and friends of patients at Queen’s and King George hospitals have been invited to send messages and pictures to show their loved ones they are thinking of them, while they are unable to visit.

Kate Baker, who was treated for a benign brain tumour at Queen’s Hospital in December 2016, has applied to be a healthcare assistant – after being inspired by the care she received when she was a patient.

London business-woman Lynn Mackie, who had closed down her textile business due to Covid-19, has helped fellow business-owners open their factories back up and reemploy machinists – to make scrubs for our clinical teams.

Colleagues across our hospitals are working extremely hard to ensure we can continue to care for our patients safely during the Covid-19 pandemic.
