Resident doctor strike

From Wednesday 17 to Monday 22 December, resident doctors (formerly known as junior doctors) will be taking strike action. During this time, our services will be under increased pressure.

Our Macmillan Coffee morning raised almost £2,000

macmillan stall

Staff and volunteers on our stall

Staff and volunteers at our Trust got involved in the World’s Biggest Coffee morning, hosting their own event to raise money for Macmillan on Friday (27 September).

Talented bakers among us donated their own efforts, while the less talented cooks bought cakes to be sold on a stall at Queen’s Hospital. Tea and coffee was also on offer.

The event topped last year’s total, raising a huge £1,921 in just a few hours.

Alix Holmes, our Macmillan Cancer Information Manager, said:

“I’m delighted that we managed to raise so much money for Macmillan at our event and we’re hugely grateful for all the support from everyone involved.

“A big thank you to those who bought and baked cakes for use, to those who helped us run the stall, our fruit stall who also donated a fruit basket for our raffle, and our friends at Sodexo, who, as well as supplying the team and coffee, even helped us set up our stall. And of course a big thank you goes to everyone who ate cake for a great cause – a tough job I know!”
