My first year in the Academy of Surgery

Academy of Surgery

Hriddhi Guha I'm about to start my second year in the Academy of Surgery training programme. I've been reflecting back on my first year so I thought I would share my experience with you.

My First Year in the Academy of Surgery

I joined the Academy of Surgery in September 2018 and despite having several years of experience working in hospitals across Mumbai in India nothing prepared me for how the NHS works.

Working at BHR University Hospitals has allowed me to learn lots of new skills including the different standards of UK surgery compared to what I had learnt back home.

It has been a great first year, not only because I have learnt so much but because I have made some brilliant friends too. The clinical training and mentorship has been amazing and it is so reassuring to know that I can always contact my supervisor at any time when I need to.
