How our staff networks have supported our workforce

We're celebrating our staff networks, which play a crucial role in supporting our workforce. In 2021, the groups have had a big impact: they made our hospitals fairer places to work, and provided support for colleagues. We've highlighted some of their achievements in these infographics.
Ability not Disability Network
- Provided a safe space for more than 60 colleagues to share their experiences
- Worked with Barts Health on a disability summit
- Ran events throughout the year, including International Day for People with Disabilities
- Interactive activities to help colleagues without a disability understand the experience of having a disability
Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Network
- Held events and welcomed speakers during Black History Month
- Diversity partners joined 57 interview panels
- Highlighted the importance of diversity at board-level; Remi Odejinmi is our Executive Director for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion on our Trust board
- Reviewed policies, including our recruitment and selection policy, to ensure they are inclusive
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender + Network
- Changed meeting structure to create safe spaces for LGBT+ staff alongside meetings for allies to join
- Signed up for a contract with Stonewall to receive support and guidance
- Added books on LGBT+ topics to the staff library
- Held events, including during Pride Month, and handed out hundreds of rainbow lanyards and badges
Men's Health Network
- Launched the network as a new health and wellbeing forum
- Held a dedicated mental health session with psychologists
- Created a safe space for male colleagues to discuss and get support for health issues
- Provided information for colleagues about different mental and physical health services
Women's Network
- Opened a feminist section in our staff library
- Ongoing work to reduce the gender pay gap
- Welcomed two female political figures, local MP Julia Lopez and our Chair Jacqui Smith, to meetings
- Improved support for staff affected by the menopause
