Happy 70th birthday to the NHS!

We marked NHS 70 with lots of celebrations across our hospitals this week.
Yesterday (Thursday 5 July), we kicked things off with a big birthday breakfast at Queen’s Hospital, hosted by our Chief Executive, Matthew Hopkins, and Chair Joe Fielder.
Lots of our staff attended, along with some of our local MPs.
Throughout the rest of the day we had entertainment and stalls in our atrium, which was looking very festive thanks to a huge, special NHS 70 balloon arch.
Over at King George Hospital, there was a lovely picnic for our staff in the afternoon. (pictured above: nurses enjoying the picnic at King George Hospital.)
We also hosted Channel 4 News for the day at Queen’s Hospital as they marked NHS 70, filming our Maternity department, before a live debate on the future of the NHS during the evening news (above), with our Chief Executive Matthew, and Chief Nurse Kathryn Halford on the panel.
We didn’t forget our patients either, with special events taking place across some of our wards.
Thank you to everyone who supported and joined our celebrations!
