Fruity kebabs, healthy meals and tasty cakes were enjoyed by our patients, visitors and staff at Queen’s and King George hospitals during the national Nutrition and Hydration Week.

On Come Dine with Me Wednesday (15 March), our acting Chief Executive Jeff Buggle helped deliver meals to patients at King George Hospital before enjoying his lunch with them; and stands were held at both our hospitals during the week with lots of information about the event, which promotes the importance of nutrition and hydration.

Other activities included afternoon tea for all inpatients across our hospitals, youngsters on our children’s ward got to have fun making, and then eating, fruity kebabs and ourstaff were able to try the nutritious meals usually enjoyed by patients.

The week, which ran until 17 March, culminated with Bake Off Friday, where staff had the chance to enter their cakes into the competition, before a bake sale was held raising funds for our charity.

Jeff Buggle, acting Chief Executive, said: “We had lots of fun activities throughout the week and I was glad that everyone, patients, staff and visitors, were able to get involved and benefit in some way.

“We know the importance of eating well for our health, and it’s even more important that our patients eat nutritious food to aid their recovery when in our hospitals.”
