Our communities are an important part of our workforce with lots of our staff living within the boroughs we serve: Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. Which is why we’re inviting local people to join us at our #BHRUT CareersFest this week.

The festival runs until Monday 4 July and one of the key events for local people will be a careers fair, held from 4pm to 7pm in the Education Centre at Queen’s Hospital this Friday (1 July). The fair is open to anyone looking for a new career, job inspiration or keen on working in healthcare. Attendees will be able to speak to our staff about the wide range of career opportunities on offer at our Trust.

Kenye Karemo, our Director of Education and Career Maps programme, said:

“We’ve got lots of exciting speakers, activities and networking opportunities taking place throughout the festival, for our existing staff looking to build on their careers, as well as local people looking to join us.

“What’s really important to remember is that doctor, nurse or allied health professional are not the only careers in a hospital. There are a range of roles in the NHS, including clerical, lab assistant, catering and management roles to name but a few. And lots of skills will be transferable, so there has never been a better time to look into a new career in the NHS.”

You can find the full programme, including links to virtual events taking place via Microsoft Teams, here.

The festival culminates with a special closing ceremony and art exhibition on Monday 4 July, in the Education Centre at Queen’s Hospital, which everyone is welcome to join. This will include the unveiling of a special piece of artwork made up of colourful handprints from a range of colleagues at our Trust, including of Chief Executive, Matthew Trainer, celebrating the diversity of careers we offer.
