Antenatal, Pre-Assessment, and Phlebotomy moving to new, improved homes at King George Hospital

Over the course of the next two months, we’ll be relocating the main operation of three of our services to new, improved facilities at King George Hospital, to continue to improve our care and the experience of patients.
The space, facilities and services we will be able to provide will be better, providing patients with a safer, improved experience.
On Monday 6 March, Antenatal will be moving upstairs from its current home to the 1st Floor at King George Hospital.
From Tuesday 18 April, Phlebotomy and Pre-Assessment will also be on the move to new locations.
Improvements at the new locations
The overall environment at King George Hospital will be much better in each case, with more room, more natural light, better cubicle space, and new waiting areas.
In Antenatal, we are particularly excited about having space for future expansion, bigger scanning rooms, and a children’s play area.
Patients using our Phlebotomy services will now be able to benefit from purpose-built cubicles; a dedicated waiting area, separate to the Outpatients Department; and a dedicated area for our little patients (paediatric), which will be decorated to help distract and keep them calm.
Our Pre-Assessment services (which are moving from Queen’s Hospital) will be able to offer more clinical space, so we can dedicated more time, reducing the likelihood of cancellation, we’re streamlining the clinics and processes, and we are taking on new staff too.
We hope that our patients will find this a better experience.
What do I need to do?
If you are an existing patient who uses our Antenatal or Phlebotomy services, you might want to keep an eye out, just in case, and just be aware that your next clinic or appointment might be somewhere different from where you might have been in the past.
If you’re due to come to see our Pre-Assessment team, you won’t need to do anything, as our appointments information should be automatically updated, so any correspondence should be directing you to the right place.
We will be putting up signs and posters around King George Hospital, so patients know where to go.
