A £500 donation has been awarded to Tropical Bay ward at Queen’s Hospital – to thank our staff for looking after a young leukaemia patient.

Damary Dawkins, 10, has been treated at our hospital over the past year. The donation was presented by Warren Tingling, Master of the Masonic Centre Lodge 3701, which is based in Holborn.

Warren is a member of the Euro Dagenham Football Club, which Damary plays for, and decided to donate the money to the ward for a new games console, to keep Damary and other young patients amused when they are in hospital.

The donation was made to the Queen’s and King George Hospitals Charity.

Warren said: “Damary has been training with the club since he was six and he’s never let his diagnosis change who he is.

“The other children he trains with treat him just the same as they always did and we keep him involved in playing football as much as possible. I wanted to donate this money to the charity to benefit other children on the ward where Damary will continue to receive treatment and care.”
