Undergraduate MBBS Medical Electives
Elective Placements for Final Year Medical Students
Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) are pleased to offer elective placements to final year undergraduate medical students from both the UK and overseas. Placements are available for a maximum duration of four weeks, subject to specialty availability.
Please note:

Only one specialty may be selected for each elective placement.

Placements can only be undertaken during the published elective block dates.

BHRUT currently charges £850.00 for a four-week hands-on elective placement.

Applications are subject to availability within the chosen specialty.

| Block 3 | 25 May 2027 — 18 June 2027 — Surgery, ED, T&O, Max Fax, Neurosurgery, Endocrine Medicine, Paediatrics, Respiratory Medicine and ITU, O&G |
| Block 4 | 21 June 2027 — 16 July 2027 — Surgery, ED, T&O, Max Fax, Neurosurgery, Endocrine Medicine, Paediatrics, Respiratory Medicine, O&G |
When applying, please clearly state on your application form the block and specialty for which you are applying.
Please note that the placement dates and specialties offered are fixed and cannot be amended. However, in exceptional circumstances, a specialty may need to be withdrawn. Should this occur, an alternative specialty will be offered where possible.
