This Volunteers Week (1-7 June), we’re celebrating the work of our 326 amazing volunteers, who have completed over 12,000 hours of activity this year.

We have a range of volunteer roles, carrying out different duties across our hospitals which support our patients.

Whether they're helping patients at mealtimes, guiding visitors to find their way, maintaining our outdoor spaces or helping shape services as patient partners, our volunteers make a real difference every day. We're incredibly grateful for the time, compassion and dedication they give so generously. Our Head of Patient Experience Debbie Edwards highlighted the importance of volunteering to our patients.

Debbie said:

Our volunteers have a hugely positive impact across our hospitals by improving our patient care and staff experience.

“They compliment the important work our staff do to ensure patients receive the best experience during their care within the Trust.

In our volunteering teams, we also have our patient partners who help oversee patient and public involvement for the Trust, working alongside their chosen clinical area.

Stephen Lane, our Patient Partner Chair said:

Patient partners help strengthen the patient voice across the Trust. By spending time on wards, speaking with patients and relatives and observing care first‑hand, they highlight concerns, share positive feedback, and ensure patients feel listened to and supported.

“They provide insight that improves services,  acting as a bridge between patients and staff to help the organisation deliver safer, kinder and more responsive care.

We’re always looking for people to join our group of volunteers so if this is something that interests you, take a look at our volunteering page for more information and how to apply.

Thank you to all our volunteers for everything they do. Look out for more on our socials and website as we continue to celebrate Volunteers’ week.
