Join us - Consultant Geriatricians
At Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT), we are transforming the way we care for older patients. We have ambitious plans to deliver proactive, compassionate and integrated care for frail and ageing people across Barking, Havering and Redbridge. We are now recruiting consultant geriatricians to join us in delivering this vision.
Providing high-quality, coordinated care for older adults can be challenging. Hospital admissions are often avoidable and can have negative impacts such as deconditioning, delirium, malnutrition and loss of independence.
That is why we are changing the model of care:
Alongside these, you will find acute frailty units at both Queen’s and King George hospitals, the frail and older people’s advisory and liaison service (FOPALS) in the emergency department, a strong orthogeriatric service and specialist outpatient clinics at St George’s Ageing Well Centre.

There's a lot of challenges every day and there's lots of opportunities - Dr Khalid Haque Consultant Geriatrician

If you have a particular special interest, you can come and work with us and develop it, and we can support you to do that

Any Geriatrician joining us has the opportunity to make this job their own
Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) is expanding its forward-looking Geriatrics services and is seeking enthusiastic Consultant Geriatricians to join the team.
Applications are welcomed from general Geriatricians and from consultants with sub-specialty interests, including Dementia, Delirium, Orthogeriatrics, Medical Education, and Movement Disorders.
You will work across acute and community settings, supporting service transformation for older people across North East London. The role spans Acute Geriatrics services at Queen’s and King George Hospitals and the Ageing Well Centre at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub.
The post goes beyond traditional ward based care and provides real scope to influence pathways, partnerships, education, and population-level outcomes for frail older adults.
