WOMB project helps care for over 400 women

The WOMB project team

The WOMB (Women’s Outpatients Management Blitz) project ran by our Women’s Health team saw around 440 patients and 480 appointments held across six weeks at the start of this year, in bid to get women the care they need and to help reduce our waiting lists.

Over 100 of these women had been waiting over a year for treatment. The efforts of our team, including evening clinics in addition to our regular daytime appointments, allowed us to halve the number of women waiting over 40 weeks. Women were seen for a variety of gynaecological conditions.

Roopa Nair, our Specialty Lead for Women's Health, praised the team and said: “Thank you to everyone in Women’s Outpatients who took a proactive approach in taking up these clinics. I witnessed some great teamwork: the consultants, nursing staff, and ancillary staff. We provided some excellent clinical care and outcomes for these women. I want to give a special thanks to Dele Olorunshola and Nissanka Madipola who gave up their time to make a huge contribution to this initiative.”

The WOMB project follows on from our Gynaecology ‘Perfect’ Week held in November which saw our teams treat 81 patients in one week – the same amount as we’d normally treat in a month. Read more about how we’re reducing our waiting lists.
