We've struck gold again for our apprenticeships!

We’ve been awarded Gold membership of The 5% Club for the second year running, which recognises the hundreds of opportunities to earn and learn we provide each year.

One in ten of our staff are now gaining new skills and qualifications while they work, and we're helping local people start NHS careers through apprenticeships and other training opportunities.

The 5% Club is a national network of leading employers which have at least five percent of their workforce in “earn and learn” positions. 445 staff at our Trust are completing apprenticeship programmes, including 87 who we’ve recruited into apprenticeship roles.

We’ve recently launched our first higher apprenticeship, the level 5 nursing associate programme, which is another way for staff to upskill in their jobs.

The Trust is also an Ofsted Grade 2 (Good) training provider, which allows us to train both our own staff and colleagues from across the NHS.

Back in July we held a graduation ceremony to celebrate the success of our staff in their programmes (pictured above).

We’re delivering apprenticeships at Barts Health, Homerton University Hospital and Lewisham and Greenwich on subjects including healthcare, teaching and coaching.

Lesley Roberts, Head of our Apprenticeships and Career Hub, said:

It’s an absolutely fantastic achievement to have been awarded gold for the second year running. It really shows how many opportunities we’re offering to people in our three boroughs who want to develop their career in the NHS.

This wouldn’t be possible without the huge amount of work put in by our apprentices themselves, and by everyone supporting them to make sure placements run smoothly.
