We’re delighted to start National Apprenticeship Week with the launch of our Trust Apprenticeship and Career Hub.

The hub will help us support the development of our workforce through accredited learning programmes.

It also reinforces our ambition and commitment to support our communities by enabling local people to take up apprenticeships with us.

Kenye Karemo, our Director of Education, Workforce Development, and Research, said: “We’re an organisation who believes that everyone and anyone can have the career of their choice, and one way in which we do that is through our
apprenticeship programmes.”

We currently have 274 people enrolled as apprentices and of these, 63 have joined through the hub, which means their apprenticeship is with the Trust directly (rather than through an external provider) and they’re supported by our own education coaches.

Staff at any level and in any role in our Trust can enrol on a course to develop their skills and gain a qualification.

Chief Executive Matthew Trainer said: “Before today I hadn’t realised the scope of apprenticeships, and the fantastic range of skills and development opportunities. It’s not just about bringing people in, it’s about treating them well while they’re here, supporting them with their development.

“Apprenticeships can help take your career in a different direction and have a career for life.”

Matthew also outlined our ambition to become part of The 5% club, whereby 5% of our employees are apprentices, adding: “Apprenticeships within our Trust is about creating a workforce that’s invested in caring and supporting.

“People who come to us are sick and often scared – they’re coming to us at a pivotal time in their life. By caring for our workforce, we can better care for the people who come to us for help.”

If you’re interested in taking your career in a different direction, or are starting out and interested in working with us, take a look at our vacancies section on our website and find out more about the apprenticeship roles available.
