We’ve been recognised for making our Trust a better place for LGBT+ colleagues

We’re delighted to have received a silver award in the Stonewall Workplace Equity Index in recognition of our work to improve inclusion for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) staff.

Our LGBT+ staff network and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team submitted evidence to Stonewall, an LGBT+ charity, on our work in areas including recruitment, awareness-raising, and training. Staff across our organisation also completed an anonymous survey based on their experience of inclusion at our Trust.

We were awarded 120th place out of around 500 organisations – and achieved 15th among health and social care organisations.

Katie Winstanley, associate equality, diversity and inclusion lead, said: “It means a lot to us to have achieved such great scores. Our LGBT+ network strives to advance inclusion and it’s brilliant to be recognised for this.

“We’re looking forward to celebrating together at Pride in London this July.”

Cameron Pacey, co-chair of our LGBT+ network, added: “This is an incredible result and really shows the power of staff networks in ensuring our Trust is a place where people can bring their whole selves to work and feel safe.

“This would not have been possible without the dedication of our members and allies who are champions of inclusion.”

We’re now creating an action plan to address further areas for improvement, working closely with the LGBT+ network. Our network meets monthly and ensures our Trust benefits from collaborative working with similar groups across north east London.
