We are thrilled to announce our Trust has signed up to Stonewall’s Diversity Champions programme, to ensure all LGBT+ staff feel welcome and included in our organisation.

Stonewall, Europe’s largest LGBT charity, runs the programme to help employers embed LGBT+ inclusion in their organisations and develop policies to support our staff and make them feel empowered in the workplace.

Victoria Miles-Gale, Head of Patient Experience at our Trust and also Chair of our LGBT+ Network, said: “Stonewall is the leading organisation for all things connected to LGBT+. They have clear priorities in empowering individuals, transforming institutions, changing hearts and minds, and changing and protecting laws.

“Signing up to Stonewall’s Diversity Champions programme gives us access to their expertise. We will be able to access workshops, training, and expert advice and they will also support us with policy and process development.

“It’s really exciting for us as an LGBT+ network. We all recognise who Stonewall are and we recognise what being able to use their resources gives us as an organisation.

“If you’re in the LGBT+ community and you see an organisation has subscribed to the Stonewall diversity champions programme, it tells you that organisation is taking inclusivity and LGBT+ issues seriously and wants to move forward.

“It gives more weight to the LGBT+ agenda in this organisation. Our network has been supported for a number of years and joining this programme will help us get to the next level - reinforcing that this is a Trust, led by our Executive team, that wants to understand what it’s like to be LGBT+ and work here and wants to take action to ensure everyone feels safe and valued.”
