Support our charity in the Captain Tom 100 fundraising event

During the first wave of the pandemic, Captain Sir Tom Moore’s amazing achievement to raise money for the NHS captured all our hearts. To mark what would have been his 101st birthday (Friday 30 April), you can get involved in the Captain Tom 100 event, raising money for the King George and Queen’s Hospitals Charity.
To do your bit, all you need is to dream up your own activity based around the number 100, and do it across the weekend from Friday 30 April to bank holiday Monday 3 May. You could decide to walk 100 steps or run 100 metres, score 100 goals or bake 100 cakes, as long as your family, friends and colleagues donate to support your efforts you can help raise money for a good cause.
For inspiration, you can watch this short video featuring a host of celebrities including David Beckham and Judi Dench, as well as real people sharing their ‘100’.
While you can raise money for whichever ward or department you chose across our hospitals, our charity is using the event to specifically support the following four areas:
- Children’s department
- Supporting those facing bereavement
- Improving staff wellbeing
- Emergency Department.
To get involved and set your challenge, visit the website where you can register to support our charity and have your supporters donate online.
Don’t forget to share your efforts online via social media, using #CaptainTom100.
Captain Tom’s daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore, said: “We’re so grateful for the incredible support we have received since my father started his record-breaking fundraising walk and that his message of hope was shared with the world.
“We know he would love the idea of inviting everyone to get involved and share their Captain Tom 100.”
