Receptionist Sharon Piper has been recognised as an ‘Unsung Hero’ in  national awards run by the British HIV association for her dedication to make a safe space for our HIV patients.

Sharon, who works in the HIV service at Barking Hospital, was nominated by her colleagues in our Sexual Health team for how she makes our patients feel welcome and comfortable when they come for their appointments.

In the nomination, they said:

‘Sharon is an absolute pleasure to work with. She consistently puts the patients first, going above and beyond to ensure their needs are met. Her dedication and commitment to providing exceptional care truly sets her apart.’

Sharon said:

Winning the award is amazing and it’s so nice to be recognised for all that I do. At the end of the day, it’s my job, and I love it and find the work that I do very rewarding.

To celebrate this achievement, our Chief Nurse Nic Kane presented Sharon with her award.

Nic said:

I was delighted to present Sharon with her award. It’s great to see this kind of recognition for the hard work she does to make our patients feel at ease.
