Earlier this morning, the 5,000^th person received their first vaccine injection since opening the doors to our Covid-19 vaccination hub.

GPs Anil Mehta and Jagan John spent a shift supporting colleagues caring for patients at Queen’s Hospital on Saturday 2 January.

We’re working with our ambulance service colleagues to introduce an Ambulance Receiving Centre (ARC) at Queen’s Hospital. This will help reduce delays in ambulance crews handing over patients to our Emergency Department (ED) team caused by Covid-19 pressures.

Our vaccination hub at Queen’s Hospital opened in December and was only made possible thanks to the hard work of several teams and countless colleagues across our Trust. As we’re so proud of them for making it happen so quickly, we wanted to give as many of them the spotlight as we can.

We’re delighted Joan Saddler has agreed to return to our Trust to oversee the running of our hospitals as one of our non-executive directors on our Board.

Along with the rest of the NHS, we are under considerable pressure as we look after a rising number of Covid-19 patients, some of whom are being cared for safely in ambulances before entering Queen’s Hospital. 

Our vaccination hub opened at Queen’s Hospital last week and was only made possible thanks to the hard work of several teams and countless colleagues across our Trust. We’re so proud of them for making it happen so quickly that we want to give as many of them the spotlight as we can.

Hundreds of presents will be delivered to patients across both our hospitals this Christmas, bringing some festive cheer to those spending it in hospital.
