We’ve got events taking place each weekday of this year’s Learning Disability (LD) Week, beginning on Monday 20 June, including Living Life with a Learning Disability, where our staff will hear from our own LD patients about their experiences at our Trust.

Khadiza Siddika, Biomedical Science student, has been awarded Student Volunteer of the Year by the University of Westminster, for her service at our Trust.

Our staff and partners made sure patients were able to get into the spirit of the festivities and enjoy celebrations marking our Queen’s Platinum Jubilee over the bank holiday weekend.

Several light boxes have been installed across King George Hospital Outpatients department to brighten the area and enhance patient experience.

Today [1 June] marks the beginning of Volunteers Week and it’s a great opportunity for us to celebrate the dedication shown by so many volunteers at our Trust who make a big difference to our patients and staff.

Lorna Gibson has joined us as our Urgent and Emergency Care Improvement Director across Barts Health and BHRUT. This is a new role within our collaboration, funded nationally as part of the SOF4 support offer to our Trust.

Gabriel Sayer, Associate Medical Director, and consultant vascular surgeon at our Trust, has completed a 600km bike ride around Regent’s Park to raise money for Whizz-Kidz, a charity for young wheelchair users.

We’ve held two further Bones weeks, blitz weeks which saw us focus our resources to carry out several times the usual number of operations in just one week. In five days from Monday 16 May we exceeded our own expectations – carrying out 62 procedures against a target of 50.
