Our volunteer Charlie Richardson, who has already abseiled down one of London’s tallest buildings and completed a skydive to raise money for our charity, is taking on a new fundraising challenge.

We were delighted to welcome Evan Davis, presenter of BBC Radio 4’s PM programme, to our Emergency Department (ED) at Queen’s Hospital to hear how we’re working hard to keep patients safe despite the ongoing pressure on the local healthcare system.

A focused effort to see and treat patients with a hernia saw around 200 in just one day, with those needing surgery treated just weeks later. A hernia is when an internal organ is pushed through a weakness in the muscle or surrounding tissue wall.

This year, South Asian Heritage Month is being celebrated from Monday 18 July to Wednesday 17 August and this year’s theme is “journeys of empire”.
