Our Elective Surgical Hub, which has been central in our ongoing work to reduce our waiting lists, has been shortlisted for two HSJ Awards.

Patients in north east London who are waiting for a hospital operation or treatment will benefit from a new website that provides useful information and links to local and national resources to help them manage their own health and wellbeing while they wait. 

Our Trust has been shortlisted in three categories of the Nursing Times Workforce Awards. We’re up for Best Employer for Diversity and Inclusion, Best Workplace for Learning and Development, and Overseas Nurse of the Year for Harry Galsote, who joined our Trust in January 2020 from the Philippines.

On Friday 8 September, Jacob Hotten, 20, and his family will participate in the Thames Moonlight 10k Walk to raise funds for the King George and Queen’s Hospitals Charity.

Our teams have been working hard to reduce the waits our patients face in our Emergency Departments (EDs). Since February this year, they have improved our performance against the national target for those who are most seriously ill (Type 1) by over 20 per cent.

On Thursday 3 August, our Infant Feeding team hosted an afternoon tea for several maternity colleagues who are currently on maternity leave. They also brought along their babies, the youngest being just two weeks old.

Pre-2020, when no one had heard of Covid-19, stroke consultant Devesh Sinha and the rest of our team were looking to create a hub as a way to reach people in the community who were most at risk of strokes, and prevent them.

We have 400 new junior doctors joining our Trust over the next three months as from August each year, trusts across the country welcome new recruits, while the previous year’s intake head off on the next step in their careers.
