Over 1,000 days of work experience
We've delivered more than 1,000 days of work experience placements this year, helping young people in our three local boroughs take their first steps towards an NHS career.
We've now been awarded a Gold Standard from NHS England for work experience for the second year in a row and commended for our “outstanding” and “well-structured” programme.
Since January, we've welcomed 215 people, who together completed 1,070 days of work experience across our hospitals.

This number includes individual applications sent through our website and some are from structured placements with colleges.
NHS England has described it as a best-practice model for work experience in the NHS.
The most popular areas for placements are nursing and midwifery. We also arranged work experience for local residents in corporate departments.
The Communications and Engagement department invited a work experience student earlier this year and will welcome another early next year.
Communications Manager Haydn Jeavons completed work experience in an NHS communications team when he was at secondary school.
Haydn said: “I really enjoyed my placement and learning about the health service. At the time, I didn't expect I'd end up working here.
“Being able to give others this opportunity is so rewarding and will hopefully inspire them to consider a career in the NHS.”
Earlier this year, the Trust held a summer school to give young people a taste of what it's like to work in healthcare.
Stevie Attree, our Programme Manager for the placements, said: “We have lots of demand for work experience from residents in our three local boroughs who want to see our teams in action and find out for themselves if that’s what they want to do.
“It’s a real pipeline for the next generation of talented healthcare professionals who are the future of the NHS.”
Please see our work experience page for more information on how to apply.
