We've been awarded veteran aware status by the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA), recognising our commitment to providing the best standards of care for the armed forced community, based on the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant.

The covenant, which became law in 2022, is there to ensure those who serve, or have served, in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly. It aims to develop, share and drive best practice which will improve care for the armed forces community, as well as raise standards across the NHS for everyone.

Our Chief Executive, Matthew Trainer, said: “I am delighted that we have been granted this status.

“We know that the men and women who are currently in the armed forces, and those who have served in the past, may face a number of healthcare issues. We’re committed to doing everything we can to provide them with the best possible care.”

VCHA Chairman, Prof Tim Briggs CBE, added: “More and more trusts are seeing the value of Veteran Aware accreditations as seen through the numbers of trusts that are now accredited. We now stand at 71% of NHS trusts across England, which is a testament both to the dedication of my team and to the wider NHS family who work tirelessly on behalf of the military community despite the many pressures they will be under. Well done all.”
