Resident doctor strike

From Wednesday 17 to Monday 22 December, resident doctors (formerly known as junior doctors) will be taking strike action. During this time, our services will be under increased pressure.

Getting the right care

Please help us make sure emergency care is available for those who need it most:

  • Only attend A&E in life-threatening emergencies.
  • For non-urgent issues, please contact your GP, your local pharmacy, or NHS 111 (online or by phone).

Appointments and planned care

  • If your appointment is affected, we will contact you directly.
  • If you do not hear from us, please attend your appointment as planned.

Our Chief Executive Matthew ranks in HSJ’s top 50 health chiefs

Matthew Trainer (pictured), who joined our Trust as Chief Executive last August, has ranked in the Health Service Journal’s top chief executives for 2022.

HSJ, a trade magazine aimed at healthcare leaders, has complied the list annually for the last eight years. It’s judged by leading industry figures looking at criteria including their performance during the pandemic, and contribution to the wider health and social care system.

Jacqui Smith, our Chair, said: “I’m delighted Matthew has secured a well-deserved place on this list.

“Since joining our Trust just eight months ago, he’s been out and about meeting and listening to our staff. He has also clearly set out the priorities he plans to focus on, including the system-wide issues which need tackling to improve our urgent and emergency care performance, and making our Trust the best, and most inclusive, workplace it can be.”
