Our Chief Executive is moving on
Our longest serving Chief Executive, Matthew Trainer, will be leaving BHRUT in the next few months to become CEO at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Responding to the news of Matthew’s departure, our Chair Sarah Betteley, said:
Matthew has achieved so much during his time with us. We’ve moved out of special measures, introduced an electronic patient record and improved our performance.
He’s done a fantastic job of inspiring our staff and helping them feel proud to work at BHRUT. He will be missed by many colleagues and I’d like to wish him all the best at King’s.
Commenting on his new role, Matthew said:
I’m excited to be going back to King’s where I first worked in a hospital.
But I am sad to say goodbye to BHRUT and to the many good friends and colleagues I have made over the years. This is one of those places that really gets under your skin.
We have achieved a lot during my five years here, including securing a CQC good rating for our maternity service and running a campaign for a new A&E at Queen’s Hospital.
I will leave with many fond memories of the Trust, its hospitals and, most of all, its people.
When Matthew goes, Fiona Wheeler, our Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive, will become our interim Chief Executive. Fiona said:
This is an exciting opportunity for me to build on the work we’ve done together in recent years.
I am looking forward to working with colleagues to continue to improve our Trust, sort out our finances and be recognised for the pioneering work we do.
