Meet our next Divisional Director for Women and Child Health

Kathryn, Sally and Ben

We’re delighted to announce the appointment of Kathryn Tompsett as our next Divisional Director for Women and Child Health. She will take over from Dele Olorunshola early next year.

Kathryn, Sally, and Ben Kathryn has been appointed following an open competition using the Trust’s new ‘diversity by design’ process that assesses candidates on their commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion. As the Divisional Director she will lead our collaborative work with partners who share an interest in women’s and children’s health, across north east London.

Kathryn has been a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at our Trust since August 2018. She’s also worked at Barts Health and the Homerton Hospital. She will lead the development of our services for women and children including our Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Sexual Health, Fertility, and Paediatrics teams.

Kathryn has shown significant clinical expertise in caring for women with complex medical conditions in pregnancy. As the first chair of our Women’s Network, she has led the way in involving staff to deliver inclusive action that benefits all colleagues.

This morning, after wishing the Sexual Health team a Happy Christmas at Barking Community Hospital, Kathryn shared a short video message in which she talked about her new role.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dele for the work he has done as Divisional Director. He has led the Division through the pandemic and other challenging circumstances and he has worked to improve the care offered to women and children. We wish Dele all the best in his next endeavours.
