Meet our new non-executive director, Mehboob Khan

Mehboob Khan

Mehboob Khan We’re delighted Mehboob Khan has agreed to become one of our non-executive directors (NED) on our Board where he will help to oversee the running of our hospitals. He has extensive experience of the NHS, having been one of our Board Advisors and, more recently, an Associate NED. He is also Vice Chair at North Middlesex University Hospital Trust.

Mehboob is Assistant Director of Policy and Change at the London Borough of Redbridge. Before taking on this role he was political adviser, for seven years, to London Councils – the cross-party organisation that represents the city’s 32 boroughs and the City of London.

Mehboob was born in Yorkshire; grew up in Huddersfield; and as Leader of Kirklees Council from 2009 to 2014, he was the first British Muslim to occupy such a role.

Welcoming Mehboob’s appointment, our Chair Mike Bell said: “I’m really pleased our Trust will continue to benefit from Mehboob’s experience. He understands the challenges we face when it comes to improving our culture and strengthening the work we are doing around equality, diversity and inclusion.

“Mehboob will bring with him useful strategic insights from his work with London Councils and with Redbridge that will help us deepen our relationship with social care services as we moved to a more place- based model of care in the boroughs we serve.”
