Anjum Misbahuddin, a neurologist at our Trust, is holding a 30 minute ‘Run with your Doctor’ event in Raphael Park, Romford, at 3pm this Saturday (24 June).

While she set it up with patients in mind, with several signed up to take part, anyone who wants to get fitter is welcome to join.

It’s a great opportunity for those wanting to take their first steps to fitness, and you can walk, jog or run around the park, taking it at your own pace. You’ll even have the chance to get some healthcare tips and advice from Anjum, and several of her colleagues who will also be taking part.

Anjum, who started running in 2012 when she joined her local parkrun, said: “While in my clinical role I work with some patients with rare conditions, a conference I attended got me thinking about the bigger picture. I thought one of the most useful things I could do for my patients was to take them on a run.

“Preventing disease is a big thing so I want to empower patients to do more things that will help, like exercise. Parkinson’s disease is my main area and exercise is really important in managing the symptoms.”

You can register to take part by emailing bhrut.runwithyourdr@nhs.net. Meeting point is at the tennis courts, which are most easily accessed via the Parkway entrance. Remember to wear sunscreen and a hat, as well as bring water with you.
