Resident doctor strike

From Wednesday 17 to Monday 22 December, resident doctors (formally known as junior doctors) will be taking strike action. During this time, our services will be under increased pressure.

Getting the right care

Please help us make sure emergency care is available for those who need it most:

  • Only attend A&E in life-threatening emergencies.
  • For non-urgent issues, please contact your GP, your local pharmacy, or NHS 111 (online or by phone).

Appointments and planned care

  • If your appointment is affected, we will contact you directly.
  • If you do not hear from us, please attend your appointment as planned.

Joan Saddler returns to our Trust board as a non-executive director

Joan Saddler

Joan Saddler We’re delighted Joan Saddler has agreed to return to our Trust to oversee the running of our hospitals as one of our non-executive directors on our Board. It’s a role she occupied for six years, until autumn last year. Joan is director of partnerships and equality at the NHS Confederation, which represents organisations across the healthcare sector. She was awarded an OBE for services to health and diversity in 2007.

Welcoming Joan’s appointment, our Chair Mike Bell said: “I’m really pleased our Trust will once again benefit from Joan’s considerable NHS experience. Joan will work with me on two of my priority areas. As we recover from the devastating impact of Covid-19, we must ensure we tackle the health inequalities it exposed so harshly in the communities we serve.

“And I will be seeking Joan’s counsel as we strengthen the work we do around equality, diversity and inclusion. I want our organisation to be one where opportunities are available to all and everyone can thrive, regardless of their background”.
