Congratulations to Iris ward at King George Hospital for receiving their second gold on our ward accreditation scheme.

Iris was the first ward to achieve gold in July 2023 and this second gold means that they can now work towards platinum.

Ward Manager Sinead Skelton expressed how proud she is of the team and how this award reflects the standard of care the patients on Iris receive.

Sinead said:

Achieving our second consecutive gold is an enormous sense of achievement and it really is testament to the sustained focus and effort from the whole team.

It’s great news for our patients because it’s formal recognition and assurance that when they come to the ward, they’ll be in a safe environment and receiving exceptional care.

Ward accreditation helps us improve and standardise the quality of care given to patients.

Each ward is assessed by nurses and subject matter experts, who issue a report on how it’s performing, and it can improve.

It covers patient experience, safety, how efficiently the ward runs and how well it’s doing on equality, diversity and inclusion.

Almost nine in ten wards across the Trust have achieved silver or higher. We have one double gold, two gold wards, 34 silver wards and four bronze wards.
