Resident doctor strike

From Wednesday 17 to Monday 22 December, resident doctors (formally known as junior doctors) will be taking strike action. During this time, our services will be under increased pressure.

Getting the right care

Please help us make sure emergency care is available for those who need it most:

  • Only attend A&E in life-threatening emergencies.
  • For non-urgent issues, please contact your GP, your local pharmacy, or NHS 111 (online or by phone).

Appointments and planned care

  • If your appointment is affected, we will contact you directly.
  • If you do not hear from us, please attend your appointment as planned.

Well done to Gentian ward at King George Hospital for achieving silver in our ward accreditation programme.

Ward accreditation is part of our ongoing efforts to improve and standardise the quality of care given to patients at our hospitals.

Wards are assessed by corporate nurses and subject matter experts. They provide a report that tells the ward what they're doing well and what needs to be better to reach the next level.

The report covers things like patient experience, safety, how staff are feeling, how efficiently the ward runs and how well they are doing on equality, diversity and inclusion.

Ward Sister Flora Casas expressed immense pride in her team's achievement.

Flora said:

We’re all incredibly proud of Gentian Ward. A huge thank you to the entire team for their hard work and commitment. We’re now setting our sights on achieving gold next time!
