Eileen raises over £2,500 for Macmillan

The epic trek was part of the Dedham Vale Mighty Hike which Eileen, along with three friends, used as an opportunity to fundraise for a cause close to her heart. She said: “Macmillan has always been a charity I’ve donated to because I know people who are living with cancer and people that have died from it.

“This year has been a poignant one for me and my family. We sadly lost our Mum to cancer in January so I would like to do as much as I can in her memory.

“We also wanted to say a big ‘thank you’ for all the care and compassion she received to the end.”

Eileen, a keen runner and walker, and part of the A&E running team at Queen’s Hospital, has worked at our Trust since 2008 and is responsible for making sure every ward a patient is admitted to gets their notes within 24 hours.

Eileen and her friends set an ambitious target to raise £1000 and have already raised an incredible £2500 for the charity. Thanking everyone involved, there was also a special mention to her colleague, John, who even donated his winnings from their team’s Euro’s sweepstake.

Eileen said: “Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. We still want to raise even more for this great cause and there are various ways to get involved.

“Macmillan encourages you to hold a coffee and cake morning with friends and colleagues or even donate unwanted gifts and hold a raffle but whichever way you show your support, it is greatly appreciated.”
