It's a hatrick for Dr Leena Sinha

Dr Leena Sinha

Congratulations to Dr Leena Sinha, Consultant Gastroenterologist, who has been elected to three national committees.

She has been elected to the British Society of Gastroenterology’s (BSG) Small Bowel & Nutrition Committee; the BSG’s Gastroduodenal Committee; and the Royal College of Physician’s (RCP) Committee on Ethical Issues in Medicine (CEIM).

Having applied for the three roles, Leena was voted onto the committees by her fellow members.

The BSG committee roles will see her work on a national level to shape the future direction of the Society, set national guidelines, and design protocols and pathways. She said: “I am very proud to have been elected. It is recognition of the clinical work I’ve done at Queen’s Hospital, including on improving and expanding the Capsule Endoscopy service and the Inflammatory Bowel Disease service.”

Debate over ethical issues arising in medical practice is important to the medical community and the CEIM has a responsibility to advise the RCP on ethical considerations arising in the medical profession.

On her role with the CEIM she added: “I have always been interested in ethics and this opportunity is an excellent way for further discussions and debate,” Leena said. "I'm looking forward to combining these committee roles with my work at BHRUT."
