Virginia, who also works for Teenage Cancer Trust, is raising money for Trekstock, a charity that works to provide physical support for young adults with cancer. They run a rehabilitation programme ‘Renew’ which helps the patients recover during and after their cancer treatment.

Virginia explained why the programme is so important to the patients: “Renew helps give young people diagnosed with cancer physical activity and also addresses mobility issues - it’s actually really popular and gets a lot of positive feedback from the children.”

Trekstock launched a 34 day challenge which consists of doing any kind of exercise activity for 34 days in a row.

Virginia decided to get involved and choose dancing as her physical activity. She said: “I love dancing and do it as a hobby, I usually Latin dance but I’ve been learning new dances and recording them everyday.

“It can actually be very challenging and tiring! - especially after a long day’s work.”

On why she wanted to take part, Virginia said: “I work in the Sunflower suite where I run young adult clinics; it’s been quite difficult during the pandemic as we usually have lots of activities for the patients but obviously we’ve had to move a lot of our services online.

“I work with these young people everyday, and I can see the difference the programme makes for them. When I asked them about the event they seemed enthusiastic and encouraged me to do it.

“I was motivated by their feedback and decided to take part and fundraise for the event and hopefully make them proud!”
