Our Consultant Neuro Anaesthetist, Sudhansu Pattnaik, has received a presidents commendation from the Royal College of Anaesthetists for his dedication to supporting doctors in training at our Trust.

Sudhansu provided support to around 40 anaesthetists in training, helping them prepare for exams and mentoring them to develop their clinical skills.

One of his trainees said:

I was very fortunate to have Sudhansu as my educational supervisor when I first started anaesthetics. He was such a supportive and kind mentor and was simply invaluable when I was sitting my exam. His dedication and enthusiasm for teaching and training are second to none.

“I have learnt so much from him and am forever grateful to him for all of the time he gives up outside of work to help us all through the exams.

Sudhansu said:

I feel truly honoured to receive this award from the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Supporting and guiding trainees has never felt like extra work and has always been one of the most enjoyable and rewarding parts of my job. Their enthusiasm, curiosity and commitment inspire me every day.

“This recognition is not just personal, it highlights the strength of our training culture and enhances the reputation of both our department and our Trust.
