Comedian Jimmy Jones has praised how well he was looked after at King George Hospital, after recently staying overnight following a routine ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) procedure to pin back a pocket in his throat.

The 83-year-old had words of reassurance for anyone nervous about going into hospital during a pandemic. He said: “I was looked after as if I was royalty. Everyone was superb.

“The staff went out of their way to relax me and I can’t sing their praises enough.”

Following the second wave of the pandemic, we are reintroducing many routine services, including planned surgery.

We know some people have reservations about coming into hospital to get the care they need during the on-going pandemic. However, it’s important if you have any symptoms of illness, to get them checked. Our hospitals are open and here to help you.

Jimmy, who lives in Upminster, had these words to reassure them: “I’d been self-isolating during the pandemic, so I was nervous. However, everyone in the hospital was wonderful and made me feel reassured and safe.”

Now, the ambassador for our charity can’t wait for restrictions to be lifted so he can get back to helping to raise money for us.
